Chicago Home Movie Day 2020

October 24 at 7pm - October 31, 2020 at 9pm

This year, Chicago Film Archives presents CHICAGO HOME MOVIE DAY on CAN-TV and online.

For Home Movie Day 2020, Chicago Film Archives presents two curated 2-hour programs of home movies (& MORE), broadcast on Chicago community television channel CAN TV as well as streaming virtually on YouTube. The programs will feature midwestern home movies from the 1920s to today, curated from our own collections as well as local organizations South Side Home Movie Project, Japanese American Service Committee, Chicago Film Society, and personal collections. Chat with CFA archivists during the online premiere of each program.

The first program will be presented on October 24 from 7:00-9:00 PM. In this episode, you’ll see Hyde Park in the ’20s, Museum Campus in the ’30s, the Chicago Railroad Fair in the ’40s, Brookfield Zoo in the ’50s, Lawndale in the ’60s, Maxwell Street in the ’70s, and of course, lots and lots of dancing.

The second program will be presented October 31 from 7:00-9:00 PM and will be HALLOWEEN-THEMED! See amateur horror films from the ’80s, a Halloween parade at a Chicago orphanage in the ’40s, a spooky baby narrating his first month of life in the ’30s, and lots of raging mid-century adult Halloween parties.

Donations optional but appreciated!
