Abstract
A Trip to the Moon is a French black and white silent science fiction film with a score loosely based on two popular novels of the time: From the Earth to the Moon by Jules Verne and The First Men in the Moon by H. G. Wells. A group of men shoot themselves by rocket to the moon where a whimsical fantasy goes terrible wrong when alien encounters chase them back to Earth. It utilizes innovative animation and special effects, including the well-known image of the rocket ship landing in the moon's eye. The Oracle of Delphi is a 90 second fantasy short in which Melies has a box of valued jewels placed inside the tomb of Delphi. A thief breaks into the tomb to steal the jewels only to be confronted with the ghost of Delphi who puts curse him for his evil deed. This film just runs 90-seconds with some great special effects.
