Description
Footage begins with a shot of the arena’s sale entrance, anxious spectators in the stands waiting for the show to begin. Reporters and photographers are captured documenting the scene.
A sign in the background reads “Chicago’s Greatest Livestock Market,” and auctioneering on the cattle begins. The newlyweds shown in other outtakes from the Koza Collection to have won the "Championship Steer" for their cow, "Honeymoon," are seen here with their trophy, Honeymoon up for auction.
The steer was ultimately sold to radio personality Arthur Godfrey for a record price of $30 per pound, a record that still holds today. Honeymoon's hide can be seen at the National Cowboy and Western Heritage Museum in Oklahoma City.
