Telenews newsreel highlighting John F. Kennedy's campaign stop in Indianapolis, IN in early 1960.
Description
Telenews titlecard reads "INDIANA." John F. Kennedy walks up the snowy stairs to the Indiana Statehouse, where he is greeted by supporters. He meets with Indiana Secretary of State John R. Walsh in his office. In the rotunda, women with "Kennedy for President" signs walk among protesters holding a large banner reading "SEN KENNEDY WE CHALLENGE YOU TO A PUBLIC DEBATE."
Kennedy is now interviewed by a journalist in a traincar. He explains that he arrived in Indianapolis from Wisconsin that morning and is now traveling to a luncheon in Chicago, then heads to Washington, and then back to Wisconsin. The journalist asks him about his prospects in Wisconsin's primary election and Kennedy expresses optimism, indicating that it is a must-win state for his campaign. He talks about how his siblings have all been campaigning hard for him in Wisconsin, hoping to help him defeat Hubert Humphrey in that state's primary.
