Description
Ceremonial cannons are blasted at Grant Park as the Queen's yacht HMY Britannia floats on Lake Michigan. Exterior shots of the Chicago International Trade Fair being held at Navy Pier. Queen Elizabeth II, Prince Philip, and Chicago Mayor Richard J. Daley ride aboard an electric shuttle inside, where various countries have prepared elaborate displays. At Britain's official exhibit is a model of the Fairey Rotodyne, the world's first vertical takeoff airliner. Other displays feature luxury automobiles and a woman showing off a silk robe.
Outdoors, a crowd watches water skiiers fly over ramps in Lake Michigan, and costumed dancers perform.
