Abstract
Footage of a snowy Chicago in 1960, shot on December 21st - a few days before Christmas. The shots are primarily of the lake featuring Chicago’s skyline, and busy shoppers making their way through Downtown Chicago.
Description
The film begins with footage of snow blanketing the beaches of the lake, featuring bits of Chicago’s skyline and notable buildings such as the Prudential Building located at East Randolph Street.
This is followed by footage of busy streets full of holiday shoppers making their way through traffic; the Walgreens on State Street can be seen in the background. Marshal Field and Co., which was also located at State Street is also captured, decked in Christmas lights (the company was bought by Macy’s in 2005).
